The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya deserves minimal credit only for its smooth animation and polished art direction from KyoAni. Everything else collapses into an unbearable mess: there's essentially zero plot, the characters are one-dimensional caricatures (especially Haruhi, an aggressive, amoral "bossy bitch" who never develops), and the non-chronological order merely disguises how little actually happens.
