/ about

Built by someone who got tired of the tools that already existed.

BingeSenpai is a one-person project born out of genuine frustration with the state of anime tracking. Not a startup. Not a side hustle. Just a tool I wanted to exist — and eventually decided to build myself.

The origin

I've been where you are.

I've used MyAnimeList for years. I've exported XML files, tried AniList for the cleaner UI, gone back to MAL for the bigger database, and repeated that cycle more times than I'd like to admit. The tools were fine — but they never felt like they were built by someone who actually watches anime the way I do.

I wanted something that could tell me why I'd love a show, not just that it has an 8.2 rating. I wanted to describe a vague feeling — "something melancholic with gorgeous backgrounds, like Mushishi but with more plot" — and have the tool actually understand that. I wanted a tracker that felt modern, fast, and thoughtfully designed.

None of that existed. So I started building it.

The best anime tracker shouldn't just count episodes. It should understand why you watch.

What this is

A tracker that thinks with you.

BingeSenpai is an anime and manga tracking platform with an AI assistant called Senpai. You can manage your library the same way you would on MAL or AniList — statuses, ratings, episode progress, all of it. But on top of that, you can have a conversation.

Ask Senpai for recommendations by mood, theme, or vibes. Get a personalized breakdown of why a specific show matches your taste — or why it might not. See what thousands of reviewers actually said, summarized into something you can read in thirty seconds. Explore how every season, sequel, and spin-off connects with interactive franchise maps.

If you're coming from another platform, you can import your entire history from MyAnimeList or Crunchyroll. Every rating, every status, every list — transferred in under a minute. Your history is what makes Senpai smart.

What I believe
01
Tracking should take seconds
Click episode 8 and everything before it is marked watched. Finish a season and the next one is queued up. The tool should do the bookkeeping, not you.
02
Scores don't tell the whole story
An 8.2 doesn't tell you if you'll love it. A personalized appeal — what resonates with your specific taste and what might not — does. That's what Senpai gives you.
03
Discovery should feel like a conversation
Not dropdowns and filters. You should be able to say "something like Cowboy Bebop but with more emotional depth" and get an answer that actually makes sense.
04
Software should have a point of view
BingeSenpai isn't trying to be everything to everyone. It's opinionated about design, about how tracking should work, about putting the art first. If that resonates with you, you're in the right place.
