Review of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

I have seen the first and second season of this anime. I seriously don't know what all the hype is about. I was very disappointed. There was so much potential with this show, and yet it all went to waste. There is no plot or storyline whatsoever. It's all just random and scattered. There are a few small arcs throughout the entire 2 seasons, but they were boring. Just like this show. One of the arcs even played out the exact same scenario for 7 STRAIGHT EPISODES. Everything was SO predictable. Don't even get me started on the characters. The characters are very cliche, andthey don't get developed at all. I don't think i have ever watched a show where every character pissed me off and irritated the hell out of me. I don't understand how someone can like Haruhi. She's a shitty person who thinks the world revolves around her and thinks of everybody in the SOS Brigade as her underlings or playthings. She has the same attitude as a spoiled rich kid. I had high hopes for Kyon because i thought he was the only sane/rational character in the show. I thought he would at least step in and teach Haruhi a lesson or two. Nope. He's one of the worst characters. He literally complains throughout the entire series about how Haruhi goes overboard all the time and how he doesn't want to be involved, and yet he goes along with everything she does. It's like he doesn't have a voice. I'm sorry, but if i were Kyon I'd speak up all the time and take a stand. I'd much rather have a closed space appear than deal with Haruhi for my entire high school career. Asahina, Nagato, and Koizumi just straight up irritated me. I liked nothing about them. You could honestly say they were the perfect slaves to her. I'm not kidding when i say this. I actually had to force myself to finish this anime. Twas very painful. The story was shit because, well, there wasn't one. And the characters sucked. I did not enjoy this in the slightest. The only good aspect about this show is the animation. It was over all dreadful. Would i recommend this? Hell no. If i get paid $100 to watch it all over again would i do it? Hell no, I'd rather get eaten by those giants in closed space. This show was a waste of money and could have been used to pay off your house 10 times over. Overall Rating: 2 out of 10. This was garbage. See ya.
