Synopsis

Teen rebels escape emotionless dome city to seek humanity's freedom across post-climate-crisis Earth.

In the year 2187, Earth has become uninhabitable due to catastrophic climate change, forcing humanity to retreat into isolated dome cities scattered across the planet. These once-connected havens have grown distant and estranged over time. Shuu is a teenage boy living in Datania, a controlled environment where children are raised under strict programming that suppresses their emotions and individuality. Despite the sterile existence imposed upon him, Shuu harbors a deep yearning to experience the natural world beyond the dome's walls—particularly the ocean he's only seen in fragments of old data. When Shuu encounters members of The Returners, a group of rebels who have managed to maintain their humanity while living in the shadows of Datania, he sees an opportunity to escape. Together with his friends, he joins these freedom fighters on a journey across the devastated landscape in search of other dome cities, hoping to find a place where people can live freely and rediscover what it means to be human. As they travel through the remnants of the world that was, Shuu and his companions face numerous challenges while learning about the planet's past and the mysterious forces that control the dome cities. Their quest becomes not just a search for sanctuary, but a journey of self-discovery as they uncover the truth about their world and their place within it.
