Synopsis
Fourth Holy Grail War in Fuyuki: seven magi and heroic spirits clash for omnipotent wish-granting artifact.
War of the Holy Grail—Pursuing the power of the "Holy Grail" which grants a miracle, this is a contest in which seven magi summon seven Heroic Spirits to compete for it. In that battle whose conclusion was postponed three times, now, the fourth war commenced again. Entrusting their dearest wish of victory, the magi joined the battleground called "Fuyuki," where alliances will be forged and broken, and where the line between ally and enemy blurs with each passing day. Among the participants is Kotomine Kirei, a man whose motivations remain shrouded in mystery even to himself. As the battles intensify, he finds himself drawn into a complex web of fate that will challenge everything he believes about the nature of desire and the price of miracles. Meanwhile, another participant, Emiya Kiritsugu, approaches the war with unwavering determination and a ruthlessness that sets him apart from his fellow competitors. Set a decade before the events of Fate/stay night, this story explores the origins of the Holy Grail War that would shape the destinies of future participants. As seven masters and their servants clash in the shadows of Fuyuki City, the true nature of the Grail and the cost of wielding its power will be revealed to those who survive the conflict.
