I Can't Get Through the Night Alone
ひとりで夜は越えられない
Synopsis
Postwar Japan: Seishirou, traumatized by his brother's death, finds unexpected love and healing with American soldier Jim Wade.
Ever since he witnessed his brother's death during World War II, Seishirou has been unable to sleep through the night alone. To make ends meet, he works at a cabaret club serving the occupying American soldiers, but between his difficulties at work and the state of postwar Japan, he has little hope for the future. Seishirou hears one of his friends say that some women are dating American soldiers to try to escape to a better life. Even though he has no interest in men, Seishirou thinks that he might have the same chance to flee when James "Jim" Wade shows interest in him. However, as he spends time with the gentle and respectful Jim, Seishirou starts to see him as more than just a ticket to a new life, realizing he may have found a companion to help keep his nightmares at bay.
