Synopsis
Nodoka saves a crane; next day, a pigeon-girl Poppo insists on repaying the favor he didn't expect.
Riding through some rice fields, Nodoka Tairadori notices a crane entangled in the crops and helps free it. As he watches the majestic bird soar away, he continues on his way, hoping that the favor will eventually be returned, much like an old tale. Nodoka wakes up late the next day and starts speeding on his bike to school; however, he stops when he sees a peculiar girl acting like a pigeon in the park. Introducing herself as Poppo—the rock dove that Nodoka unknowingly saved from the crane he freed yesterday—the girl declares that she will do her best to repay the boy for his kindness. Confused as to why the crane is not repaying the favor, Nodoka declines Poppo's offer but finds that the girl will not relent in her resolve.
