Synopsis

In post-war Japan, skeptical Ogito investigates miracles for the Vatican while questioning faith and divine truth.

Set in a future Japan, 500 years after an endless war called "Eternity" was miraculously brought to an end, humanity now lives in what is known as "the time after eternity." In this new world, Christianity has become the dominant force, with the Vatican exerting significant influence over daily life. Society has become sharply divided between the deeply devout and those who question or reject the faith. The story follows Ogito, a young man labeled as "godless" due to his skeptical nature and extensive reading of forbidden texts. Despite - or perhaps because of - his reputation, he is assigned as an intern to the prestigious "department of saints," specifically working in the "miracle inspections" section. This department is responsible for investigating and verifying alleged miracles throughout the country. As Ogito begins his new role, he finds himself paired with unusual colleagues, including Izumi, a mysterious figure whose unique circumstances challenge conventional understanding of faith and humanity. Together, they embark on investigations that will test their beliefs and force them to confront the true nature of miracles in a world where the line between divine intervention and human deception has become increasingly blurred.
