A welcome return to form for the Haruhi franchise, this film finally delivers the character depth and narrative cohesion fans had been waiting for, with Kyon’s internal journey standing as the emotional core. While the pacing drags in the opening act and never fully shakes off its languid tone, the tight adaptation, expressive animation, and standout performances from Sugita Tomokazu and Chihara Minori more than compensate.
