Review of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
It would be impossible to watch this movie without being well acquainted with the previous two seasons of Haruhi. You have to know what is different in order to follow the story. This is also a great story for those who are into the relationship stuff with the different characters. It simply begins with Kyon waking up one day and Haruhi is gone, no one remembers her, and Nagato and Asahina are normal humans. I found myself pulled along with Kyon's tramatic experience of a world without Haruhi, wondering if he is happy that his life is normal as he always wished and mentally complainedabout.
All in all, this is a Kyon and Nagato movie and really a wonderful delve into both their characters.
A Note about the Series (no spoiler):
I know most people hated the Endless Fight episodes, and watching them and waiting a week and watching and waiting and frustration and disbelief and waiting and waiting and waiting and then Finally. Victory! Something different! And then impressed that they had the balls to go eight episodes like that. And when i watch the season again (someday soon i guess) i'll probably skip some of the endless fight, or watch it and pick out the difference camera work. But nothing could remake that first feeling and relief and jumping up and down that Kyon got off his butt and fixed the problem! And the relief that it was finally over! It was a victory and really different experience as a viewer. So i don't hate it. It made me appreciate Haruhi a little more.
