Synopsis
Takasugi and Katsura hunt a dangerous time-manipulating device during Japan's turbulent Bakumatsu era.
The Bakumatsu was an era in which the souls of young men burned with anxiety for their country's future. Takasugi Shinsaku, a soldier of fortune from Choshu, sneaks aboard a government ship with his comrade Katsura Kogorou in search of a mysterious "timepiece" with the power to manipulate time. Believing such power too dangerous for any one group to control, Takasugi seeks to prevent its misuse. Their journey leads them from the high seas to the ancient capital of Kyoto, where they find themselves caught in the midst of a nation undergoing dramatic transformation. As they navigate this volatile period of Japanese history, the two warriors must confront forces that threaten to reshape their country's destiny in ways they never imagined.
