A triumphant return to the SAO universe that blends tragedy, comedy and romance while reviving the original’s nostalgic magic; the mind-blowing coloring and perfectly timed BGM during the climactic monster defeat make the big-screen experience unforgettable. Though the new OST doesn’t quite surpass the classic SAO score, every other element—livelier animation, richly detailed characters and irresistibly kawaii Yuna—delivers. SAO fans should rush to the cinema and stay past the credits for a rewarding stinger.
