Frieren is a series that deemphasizes its own story (and characters, moral questions, power systems, philosophical intrigue, etc.) in favor of something far more valuable and far harder to communicate. It does this in a setting/frame/universe that is truly unique (and yet familiar), and where fundamental premises surrounding life are sometimes absent; the primary perspective is from Frieren, an elf (hence the name of the anime).
