Both GQuuuuuuX and Diebuster are sequels directed by Tsurumaki to old mecha anime made by other people, in which he uses a completely different and much simplified art style and tone compared to the originals, in addition to playing around with changes to the previous lore and bringing back old characters as impetus for the new cast.
