All I have to say is that Yakumo and Nana take serious abuse! If you can handle the large amounts of blood and gore and the occasional down time filled with slice-of-life drama, then Elfen Lied will do you just fine.

A couple of supernatural anime where the main character is an in-human girl who possesses two personalities, one being passive and the other being a bit crazy. Switching to the crazy personality gives the girl strong powers. They have lots of gore and violence.
