Without getting into too many spoilers Charlotte and Elfen Lied both have the same situation of individuals with an uneasy life of the past. The different ways the two anime use their characters to combat it vary vastly, with Elfen Lied focusing on blood and gore. Charlotte is incredibly more light-hearted with comedic themes and other attachments with believing in the people you work with.
