Both have a passionate woman protagonist. Myne is passionate about books, Arte is about art. Both are set in the Middle Ages. However, Ascendance of a Bookworm is a fantasy and Arte isn't. Masters and apprentices systems are somewhat represented in both. More broadly in Ascendance of a Bookworm though because it focuses also on Lutz's apprenticeship in the merchant's guild.
