The idea is actually pretty fun. I've seen it being explored a few times, but it's rare enough to still feel refreshing. To me the execution is where it sort of stumbles. It's not BAD, per se, but it's kind of rushing towards the plot beats. The story tries to offset the MC's youthful ideals of a yankee with ML's cynical views of reality, but the way it unfolds is just there without giving much weight to latch on. The art is nice enough, but the interior art feels a bit different from the cover. The vibe is also very light and upbeat. And the characters arebasically your standard golden retriever x black cat. All of this is adorable, for sure, but generic all the same. Their dynamics doesn't change much either so far.
Add the age gap, which I'm sure will be ignored come the ending and I'm ending up just feeling...whelmed.
