This review may discuss plot details.

I saw this in my local comic shop and my brother was shocked at the title, naturally I was intrigued and picked it up, then I was shocked. I rarely see trans men in manga much less as main characters with so much care put into understanding. I can't really put into words what it feels like to see some of my own feeling laid out. I'm closeted to most of my family and I relate a lot to Chiaki's mix of duty and resentment. It goes without saying how good the dream scene is, especially as someone who has felt connected to body horrorfor similar reasons. It also perfectly connects Chiaki's connection to butchering, while for those not used to seeing it the gore can be uncomfortable, but for his own experience why would he. I goes to show how personal these things are. I could feel the weight he went through long after I finished reading and I expect that this story will stay with me for a long while.
There are also several other stories within this book ranging in tone and subject all of these felt like they gave a unique and valuable perspective. My favorite is probably the owl one the art in it is spectacular and you can understand so much complexity in 2 pages.
