Very much like another manhwa, "Daddy's Wild Oats", this story didn't go the way I expected...and I am just completely disappointed at what we got. The only thing good about this was the art. Everything else, the story, the plot, and the characters were all down right terrible. And having the main character (Myungjin Yoo) be a total prick and a douchebag, that is never what people want to see - there's nothing wrong with having a flawed character, but make him better as the story goes on, not worse. Having an underdog is what people love to see, and that's what I thought Myungjinwas at first - a talented competitive swimmer who never got recognition, and was forced to settle for menial chores (as in "pool boy"). And I could understand him having lewd and erotic thoughts, since there was plenty of eye-candy at the swimming facility - of course Hojeong Lee was the sexiest one there; with her terrific looks and perfect physique...and yes, it is also because she was a complete and total MILF! You also have the sexy Mijoo Kim, Myungjin's somewhat only friend who is dating Sunyong Kang (a complete cocky douchebag with muscles - who flirts and gropes every girl he instructs). There's Yura Oh, the new girl who acts all shy but turns out to be a complete masochist. And Sia Park, the talented swimmer who was saved by Myungjin a couple years prior to the story. It really goes down hill from the start of the seventh chapter: Mijoo starts noticing Myungjin after he gets promoted, has wild sex with him and even breaks up with Sunyong over the whole while making him listen to her scream in pleasure; Sia not only gets to witness Myungjin's toxic personality, but gets violated by him in the process; and Hojeong planned this whole thing just to keep Sunyong all to herself, and move to Jeju Island - but...why?! What is with all these characters are their toxicity?! Why have Myungjin be just as terrible as Sunyong?! Why have Mijoo try to bribe and manipulate Myungjin in the first place?! Why have Yura suddenly crave Myungjin enough to stalk him?! Why have Hojeong conspire with Myungjin just to keep a complete douchebag in her life?! And again, why must Myungjin so damn terrible that he has to lie, manipulate, blackmail, threatening to murder, and rape anyone?! The guy's ego and self-esteem is so fragile, that he went berserk after finding out that his accomplishment was actually rigged! This is all done just so wrong!
Why not have the story go like: "Myungjin being a super talented swimmer but he never got a chance to go professional, and so ends up with being a pool boy - and while he spends his days cleaning up the pool, and enjoying all the eye-candy, he also secretly trains when no one is around. Hojeong can still make a deal with Myungjin, but instead of still sipping for that douche Sunyong, she falls in love with Myungjin. Yura can still be shy and a pervert, but instead of getting blackmailed, she convinces Myungjin to participate in her erotic escapades (without showing his face). Mijoo can still breakup with Sunyong while sleeping with Myungjin, but maybe he can better explain that he's not looking for a relationship, and the two work as a team with their swimming instructions. Sia would still fond over Myungjin, but they wouldn't become intimate till near the end of the story. And when Myungjin finds out that Hojeong truly did rig the competition, he is devastated - Hojeong deeply apologizes for what she did, and admits her true feelings for him. Myungjin is inspired to compete once again, and while he does amazingly...he ends up losing to Sia in the finals. While disappointed, he is contempt that he did his best and at least came in second place. He also congratulates Sia, and encourages her to continue being an even better swimmer than him. In the end, Myungjin leave the center, and gives his position to Mijoo - wishing her luck, and keeping an eye on Sia and Yura. He decides to move to Jeju Island to be with Hojeong (and her kid). Myungjin asks if Hojeong would like to go swimming at the beach, but she suggest that they wait until night...so they can go "skinny dipping" - much to Myungjin's delight." That to me would have been a much better story to have read.
But as always...these are just my opinions.
