Torture Princess: Fremd Torturchen · review
Of all the WNs and LNs that I have read, this is the one I most wish would get animated. The violence isn't just gory, it's imaginative. More than that it feels real and visceral. It's like the author spent a week dissecting farm animals before writing this. Of course interesting violence doesn't make a novel. Torture Princess marries that with compelling love interests in a world that truly feels like it's dying and couldn't care less about such things. It's also a story about the possibility or impossibility of redemption. It's protagonists are bad guys who don't act much more honorably than the antagonists. Despite(at first) being impossible to forgive, you want to up root for them, like how the main character struggles with the past sins of his new master and his desire to see her live on.
At minimum you'll get a story filled with outstanding action, wonderful art, and scenes you won't find anywhere else. If you're lucky, you'll find yourself asking questions about the necessity of forgiveness and the foundations of different kinds of relationships. It's like The Scarlett Letter with less obsession on chastity and more murder. Enjoy!
