Review of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc
Kimetsu No Yaiba. Mind y’all, this anime has risen to top of the charts beginning of 2019 and the popularity has spread like wildfire and continues to dominate even after the manga ended 2 years ago. I have avoided watching this show for a while because not only I thought since everybody was talking about it since it premiered but decided to not watch it because of others but for myself. Kimestu No Yaiba caught my eye while they were airing their second season this year by not only their music but colorful and spirited characters. Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira, was suppose to have taken Rengoku Kyojuro’splace after his death from fighting with Akaza in the first season (or first half of the second season) to mentor younger Demon Slayers, Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke and Zenitsu in the journey of taking down Muzan (leader of the 12 Demon Moons).
The Story: simple, right? Guy seen his whole family killed except his sister, sister turns into a demon, wants to turn his sister back human, and find the enemy to get revenge for himself, his sister, and his deceased family. That’s it, not that hard to follow but also not complex with a whole bunch of storylines to make the plot more mysterious and confusing that doesn’t take many seasons to find out what the plot is about. You do not need have a lot of plot lines to make a good story and KNY has accomplished that.
The Art: JESUS CHRIST… Ufotable must have an infinity budget because they do spend their money but not giving us cheap animation but the BEST and I mean “SETTING THE BAR” type of best animation. The beauty of Tanjiro’s move of “Hinagami Kagura” to Uzui’s “Musical Score” turns this show to an actual movie in the fight/action scenes.
The Music: PHENOMENAL. Created new soundtracks to give more depth of the characters’ and their own back stories as well as the battle scenes.
The Characters: Being introduced to Uzui’s wives, Hinatsuru, Suma, and Makio has been exciting to watch. The wives are not only similar looking to the trio of Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu but personalities too while having a loving relationship with their husband and each other. Daki and Gyutaro were great as well, even though they were the villains this season, their sibling relationship is just like Tanjiro and Nezuko, sticking together when they have nobody else.
Overall, Kimetsu no Yaiba has gain another fan and I look forward to the next season and I do believe when this anime ends, it will seal itself as one of the greatest animes of all time, a worthy classic no doubt.
