Quite entertaining but with certain flaws, which stand out especially after checking the history of the manga.... The 2nd season of Demon Slayer is a solid work of entertainment and action that reaches incredible animation standards, however, I think this is one of the points that blind the true background of the anime. Demon Slayer is 80% epic animation and 20% ''meh'' in terms of everything else. The story is nothing unique or remarkable, featuring tropes that have been done before, however, it is the lack of satisfactory execution and pacing that makes this anime look a bit bad. The story progresses quickly and introduces alarge gallery of fascinating and cool concepts, but they are never thoroughly investigated and the subplots are left floating in the air, leaving a certain air of unpleasantness due to the lack of substance it presents.

The characters are nothing special per se, presenting themselves as one-dimensional beings, rather stuck to their quirks or stereotypes. The few interesting characters are introduced with the least amount of time and the series constantly introduces secondary characters, which we only get to appreciate for a moment and then forget about them.

Ultimately, another problem is the narrative dysfunction and the very rules of the Demon Slayer universe. Some things happen just for the sake of it; the protagonists change their power level from one moment to the next. While of course, the series uses time skips (it really depends on them) this causes us to not be able to fully appreciate the story. Progress feels rushed and abused.

At this point I have to say that this series is, in a way, mediocre. It relies too much on its animation, and tries to replace solid characters with a gallery of romanticized emotional flashbacks. As critical as I sound, Demon Slayer is good entertainment, but I wouldn't consider it the series of the decade, the year, or the season. Finally, would I recommend it? sure, if you feel like watching a short season of 11 episodes, go ahead, it's not a waste of time per se; it's entertaining, has a lot of action and it's worth it with some good popcorn.
