Review of KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!

Wow, it's been a long time since I've written an anime review. It's not common for me, because I generally don't really have much to say. This one is so, so sad, though. Normally, the more you enjoy a franchise, the more you enjoy the spin-offs, even if they are sub-par. I think this is a special case, though. I'll keep this short. This is an extremely boring anime; which is an insane thing to say about Konosuba. What I expect from this series is fast-pace high-energy over-the-top meta humor and voice acting. Konosuba races through the plot and presents us with lovably flawed charactersand banks on their hilarious chemistry. This spin off does nothing that makes Konosuba great. It is a slow-paced slog through a boring magical school setting lead by a character who is incomplete without her companions. The side cast is completely forgettable and a vast majority of jokes fall flat - I was shocked that after watching 4 episodes I only chuckled 2-3 times while, when watching the movie that came before, I had to pause several times because I couldn't breath. The laughs didn't come later, either, in fact, I think the show became LESS funny as time went on. An absolute disappointment. I hope this doesn't foreshadow the coming season.
