Review of A Whisker Away

I hate this movie to the ends of time. To me, this is the worst animated movie I've ever seen. I actually had to make a MAL account to make this. I'm warning you, anyone who wants to watch this movie. STAY AWAY. Let's begin, shall we? Story 1/10 - This movie starts off with a premise that sounds cute in the beginning. Right off the bat, the characters are immediately unlikable except the stepmom and father, and the best friend of Muge, who is the only one with any sense of emotion in her school. Muge's character starts off as being a sad emotionally strickengirl who turns to a Cat like being who gives her a mask to give her a second life as a cat. Instantly she becomes a stalker-like obsessive woman over one man and her actions are incredibly unrealistic. The dynamic between characters especially Muge and Hinode are cringey and horribly written. She is horrible to her step-mother even when she tries her best at a helping hand, and constantly ignores the kindness of others and becomes super self absorbed and only to the guy she likes, which is ironic to herself because she claims everyone else is selfish only to have it come back to her.

Art and Animation 5/10 - Typical Anime movie style where budgets seem to benefit some scenes and others feel mediocre and reused. Shots and art scenes are constantly reused as Muge backtracks being a cat over and over to Hinodes house to stalk him in her furry form. I feel that the studio could have taken more time with some scenes and made them less "stock" feeling.

Sound 5/10 - Generic at best but not bad. It fits where it's needed and works well with the scenes but has no lasting effect afterwards and no melodies were stuck with me.

Character 1/10 - As explained earlier, everyone is actual hot garbage except the Stepmom, Father, and Best friend characters.

Enjoyment 0/10 - I actually stopped halfway through out of disbelief at how unrealistic the characters were. The main guy character, Hinode, has a love note read allowed from Muge by a bully, and ends up hating her for it, even though she was literally being f**** bullied in front of him and was made a laughing stock. He somehow became the "victim" and played it like a loser. Hinode has no likable qualities.
