This review may discuss plot details.

I can't lie, I think this is the best installment in the franchise since the beginning honestly. It's definitely the best of this trilogy of hour long films that came out in 2019. The entirety of the movie follows Shinya Kogami, which is a plus, and Shogo Makshima appears in two scenes where Shinya imagines him, which is another point in the movie's favor. However, there's a lot to like about it. It revolves around Shinya Kogami continuing to help rebels fight overseas, but he takes on a protégé, a young girl named Tenzing Wangchuck. He agrees to teach herhow to defend herself, but not to kill or use a gun. Her family was killed by Gruella militia and she desires revenge, but Kogami, knowing how unsatisfied he felt after getting his revenge on Makishima, didn't want her to go down that path. Their interactions are the best part of the movie, whether they're training or just chatting about their lives. But the action is also incredible. I especially loved the bar fight that Kogami takes part in at the start of the film, and also the train chase and one on one fight with the main antagonist of the movie at the end. I just love Kogami so much and I'm so glad this movie is basically about him, and Makishima making a coupe of cameos is a bonus. Akane doesn't appear in this movie a single time, nor does anybody else from Japan except for Frederica Hanashiro. She was introduced in the last movie but had a very minimal role, only appearing very briefly at the beginning and the end of it, since the majority of it was a flashback. But I like her though, she is duty bound but not rigidly, and she doesn't attempt to kill or arrest Kogami even though she'd probably get in trouble if it was found out that she let him go without a struggle. She's likable and attractive, and even helps Kogami a bit during the final confrontation with the train.
