Review of ReLIFE
After completing this anime, I was driven to read the source material. I'm usually an action-adventure fan, but I just fell in love with this show. I found the story and concept very compelling. The trope of reincarnation and reliving is being played a lot lately, but I liked how this story simplified the trope and made it more relatable. The sci-fi element of age reduction isn't abused too much and is used appropriately to set up the premise of "what if a 27-year-old man got a chance to do high school again." The reveals are hit better in the manga, but the pacing is greatin the anime. The characters are given a lot of space to breathe and grow and be fleshed out. They are layered, and all have strengths and faults, making them more realistic and relatable.
I really appreciate that the art didn't hyper-sexualize the teenagers. Again, this supports this premise a lot better than being just another anime with super sexy teens running around. The art is simple but compliments the story.
I highly recommend it.
