Review of The Rising of the Shield Hero

As the first ever Isekai I've seen, this does the job pretty well. Almost every other isekai I watch after this show just feels like I'm rewatching it (because this genre repeats a lot of the same motifs), so if this is your first one, I'd recommend it especially if you're into shounen and some level of fantasy/rpg elements. It's not exactly outstanding or anything (I don't remember much about it after it being a couple years since I've seen it), but it is a solid and enjoyable watch for the most part. It's your typical story of some guy in his 20s getting involvedin some deadly/near death experience and getting transported to a European medieval-era region that's straight out of a final fantasy game. The humor is mostly original from what I remember, focusing less on fan service and more so on solid action scenes and build-up episodes that make you want to binge it in a few nights.
