Review of The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?

poor animation, so-so art, some embarrassing cg and a litany of isekai tropes. that's the series down sides. the thing that saved the series from being dropped was it's approach to an overpowered isekai protagonist. the show focuses surprising little on combat or adventuring. instead the instances of combat and the protagonists victories are set ups for political intrigues with the series focusing more on the political implications of an over powered protagonist entering a class based society mirroring medieval Europe. i've always enjoyed period dramas that focused on those political dimensions and 8th son does a competent job being an isekai equivalent. it is isekai trashthough don't think it isn't, but i like isekai trash. if the premise of a more politically focused junk food isekai appeals to you give it a go otherwise i would skip it
