Review of Fate/Zero
Off the bat, Fate/Zero (both seasons 1 and 2) is one of the best anime I have ever seen. Admittedly, I was slightly confused at the beginning of season 1: the storyline was a little thick and a little hard to catch onto at first. Additionally, this is the first anime in the Fate series that I have seen, so I also had to learn about the concept of the overall series. But, at least for this anime, patience is key and certainly rewarding. Nearly everything in this anime is perfect: the storyline, the art, the fight scenes, and especially the CHARACTERS. Let me say thisas a testament to the quality of Fate/Zero - I have watched some long anime (Naruto, Bleach, Hunter x Hunter), and the way I was drawn to Iskander (Rider) and Arthur (Saber) and their philosophical struggles of kingship was unprecedentedly quick. Other anime tackle concepts of friendship and family, but this anime delves deep into the philosophy of leadership and utilitarianism.
Since I have not seen any of the other Fate series, I cannot say if you should watch this one first or not. I do know that this one takes place before the others (and it is on Netflix), which is why I watched it first. However, this anime has been an incredible experience - on par with Deathnote for me. Just be sure to watch this after having a basic understanding of philosophy - it will make the experience that much more enjoyable.
