Review of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
This show should have had a great deal of emotional impact and character focus. However for some reason the writers of it seemed to have never figured out how to make this work further than the premise. What we get here is mostly static teenage characters being stuck in the past after emotional trauma, guilt and grief hit them, because they lost a close friend in their childhood days. It would have been amazing if we could have see these characters overcome these feelings, move on and grow over the cause of the show. And honestly that is about what you would expect out of somethingexploring these topics for 11 episodes.
But once again this show does not do that. Instead we get some insignificant slice of life comedy and drama while only in the very last two episodes the show seems to remember what it even was about in the first place.
To say this was disappointing or boring are huge understatements! This show is sadly a waste on every conceivable level. And I have no idea why that is the case, it's such a shame.
