Review of High School DxD

TL;DR: Good show, it got me into anime, its funny, the story is good, and there is booba. For starters, I'm a little bias. Up until 2017 I was a full blown anti-weeaboo, you know, the average edgy 15 year old at the time, who just has to oppose anything 'cringe'. But one day I found a community on discord that had a running joke about lolis, one in particular. Long story short, I watched what I considered degeneracy at the time as a joke, and to say I did it. But things did not go according to plans. At the first episode I wasentertained, after the second one I was interested, after the 5th one, without trying to spoiling anything, I was balling my eyes out. I wondered to myself how some shitty 2D Japanese cartoons with all the stereotypes would make me laugh, cry, and sit on the edge of my seat in just 5 episodes. I was getting a frisson from an opening song that was in a language I didn't even understand, I wanted to keep watching, even though I thought every episode was going to be painful at the beginning.

I sit here now surrounded with anime posters, a full bookcase of manga and anime figures, my wallpapers on my phone, desktop, watch, anything is almost always anime related, fuck I even have Drip Goku and the hidden leaf symbol on the back of my car. And it all started with Highschool DxD. Have I gone too far? Yeah. Do I regret it? nope.

Its not too deep, you know how people re-watch things and get something new out of it every time they do? I mean, I guess it was like that the first time I re-watched it, but the 2nd and 3rd re-watch was just because of how much I enjoy watching it. It's not even because of the boobs, tbh, past like, episode 4, it wasn't about that for me, all the sexual stuff in the show ads character but, I feel like I'm mainly here to keep seeing Issei grow his strength and his harem and learn more about the world and the characters. (Personally, my favorite is Xenovia).

Objectively, Highschool DxD isn't the greatest, in fact, yeah, its pretty degenerate, but it means a lot to me, and never once has budged from being my favorite anime of all time, I definitely recommend you watch it, preferably, when no-one is around.

And this is my first review on this site, despite uh, being around since early 2017. I'm trying to follow these guidelines on the right here the best I can, but I have a tendency to go on tangents, so uh, bear with me.
