Review of Arakawa Under the Bridge
Can you have a story without a plot? There have been countless shows that lack a storyline, but they are mostly gag comedies. I wouldn't say Arakawa Under the Bridge is necessarily one of those. Most of the time you get straight faced people creating the comedy effect, but the characters in Arakawa are weirdos who are actually pretty normal inside. It's kind of the opposite of what you usually get in shows with serious people who do or say weird things. Because of this slight difference, Arakawa's comedic effects are more natural, meaning it's not necessarily the situations that make the story entertaining butthe characters themselves, even when you don't have a storyline. The show doesn't even need those serious speeches that you often see to make it meaningful. Arakawa can leave you warm-hearted in the most subtle way, and I think that's its greatest accomplishment.
