Review of Redo of Healer

There are some things that really bother me when it comes to movies or TV-series. This anime hits a lot of them, so let's go through some. -- Weak story The story is simple. A guy is treated extremely badly, gains the power to turn back time and undo it all, decides to not undo anything but rather to go through it again just to get the chance to get revenge. It doesn't make sense for anyone who has actually seen trauma. It is just revenge porn for entitled douchebags who think they've seen trauma because a girl they were nice to didn't want to have sexwith them or maybe mommy took their Xbox away until they cleaned their rooms.

-- No character development
There is no growth of characters here at all. The main douchebag gets abused, becomes obsessed with revenge and turns into a Gary Stu, but that is all part of the backstory in the first episode. After that he just remains a douchebag. There is no character development to speak of with any other character either, which is made even worse by the fact that there are no interesting characters to begin with.

-- Mindless shock value
And you know what? I actually enjoy mindful shock value. I'm very much a product of the 90s and if you weren't born then and think you know anything about being edgy, know that you're about as edgy as a marshmallow. This show has nothing I haven't already seen so there is no novelty to it and what is there is absolutely tame. It is "mature" in the most childish sense of the word.

-- Blatant sexism
No, I don't mind nudity. No, I don't mind sexy girls. But it is clear that the person who wrote the story has issues. The good women in the show are either family members or obedient objects while the bad women are people of action, power and opportunity. The incel vibes are strong.

You know what? About this is how much effort I can muster to write about this show. There are more things that I could write about that range from the bad to the mediocre, but there is no real point. The show fails at being good, it fails at being edgy, it fails at giving shock value and despite the numerous sex scenes it even fails as a hentai. I thought I could write an angry review about it, but it fails at making me angry or engaged enough. What isn't "mature" in the show is just boring and minimum-effort. This goes for animation, music, sound, design, world building and everything else. The most generic and bland kind of japanese euroinspired fantasy.

But I should end with saying something good about it I guess. The intro music has a few bars that aren't completely generic. As a whole it's a forgettable and generic song, but those few bars are nice.

Don't watch this show. Unless you're a "hell fedora" incel edgelord.
