Review of The Testament of Sister New Devil: Burst OVA
Alright, so I watched the Shinmai Maou no Testament Burst OVA—Toujou Basara no Shigoku Heiwa na Nichijou—and honestly, I knew exactly what I was signing up for... and I still had a good time. Let’s just get straight to the point: the ecchi content is basically the entire point of this OVA. Like, if Season 1 and 2 flirted with the line, this one just full-on jumps across it with zero shame. And as someone who enjoys this genre for what it is, I’m not complaining. It’s chaotic, over-the-top, and kinda hilarious at times in how far it goes. If you’re not into fan service, thisis absolutely not for you—but if you are, well, you’ll be entertained.
There’s some action too, though way less than the main series. What’s there is decent—nothing super memorable, but enough to keep it from being just ecchi. I wouldn’t say the fight scenes are the star of the show this time around, but they’re not bad either.
On the flip side, I did skip through a few of the slower moments. There's some dialogue that just feels like it’s there to fill time or give an excuse for the next spicy scene. I know they’re trying to build some kind of "everyday peace" vibe, but honestly, I was just waiting for the next ridiculous moment or quick burst of action. It’s an OVA, so I didn’t expect deep storytelling—but still, a few parts just dragged a little.
