devilman crybaby is probably one of the most hit or miss animes i've watched and for me, it was definitely a hit. story: 9/10 ever since i first watched it devilman crybaby has been one of those animes that just seemed to stick with me. the ending left me with such an empty, sad feeling. it tells a story of the destructive nature of humans, love, and how no matter what we do, our fates are inevitable. art: 9/10 i don't understand why so many people feel devilman crybaby falls short on its art and animation. i adore masaaki yuasa's simplistic but beautiful style and the consistent colorpalette of devilman crybaby. the only reason i'm giving it a 9/10 rather than a 10/10 is that i felt they could've done better on giving the interior backgrounds more detail. while the outdoor scenery was wonderful, the interior designs and walls felt bland and disinteresting. i get that walls aren't supposed to be that interesting though.

sound: 10/10
i genuinely can't think of a way to describe the beauty of devilman crybaby's soundtrack. it's heartbreaking when it needs to be, powerful and just carries even the most boring scene.

character: 9/10
i don't have much to say on character, as i'm not too good at character analysis in the first place. i don't feel like any of the cast was left to wasted potential, or that they were rushed in any way. i could understand every one of their motives and actions though, even ryo. he did genuinely care for akira, and while i wish they didn't make him so cold compared to the manga, his behavior and actions were consistent throughout the story.

enjoyment: 10/10
i watched devilman crybaby all in one afternoon, and before i knew it, 10 episodes were up. it's perfectly paced, and every scene had me engaged. there was never a point in the show where i was just waiting and waiting for it to end it was so boring, which was great.

overall: 10/10
i would 100% reccomend giving devilman crybaby a try, it's short and more than worth the watch in my opinion.
