Review of Gangsta.
I started watching Gangsta and everything about it pulled me in. The opening was awesome, the characters were all dynamic and intense, the world itself was full of darkness and filth. This anime had everything going for it, but then the last episode hit and it all crashed and burned... So, Gangsta is an anime giving you a story full of prostitution, death, and slavery, so if you want something with a happy ending or even a slim silver lining, don't even bother. Gangsta is not that type of anime. I loved all the dark elements to Gangsta. I loved thatthe characters all had dark pasts and futures devoid of any hope for themselves. It all just fit together so nicely.
The story itself begins with Worick and Nicolas, the Handyman, hired for the dirty jobs no one else can take on. We follow their lives and complicated relationship while learning more about this screwed up world. The story gives you many unique characters and tidbits of their complicated pasts, so you remain hooked as the story continues to slowly spiral into more chaos and violence, but then it ends. And the ending is so controversial I can see why some reviews are so low.
I am honestly so disappointed in the ending they gave, but I still recommend this anime for the sole purpose that it was refreshing with the characters and the story. Just beware of an unsatisfying ending...and maybe hope a second season will show up to fill the gigantic hole the anime left.
