Review of A Lull in the Sea
Because I didn't see a flash warning on Netflix about this, there is a scene in episode 25 at about 8:48-9:30. It may not be intense enough to harm anyone, but I suggest using caution. I did enjoy this anime, some of the characters were genuinely good and well written (example: Akari's overall personality, emotions, and mannerisms, Hikari's character development) and the setting and a lot of the story elements are genuinely interesting and unique. However, for middle school students, a lot of the characters act strangely. The balance between drama and good times is off, with the show very heavily favouring drama. While atthat age everything feels like the end of the world I don't think that how the show handled the character's emotions really portrayed believable 14 year olds. Miuna and Sayu are generally well-done character wise, they definitely act their ages except for one of Miuna's scenes. I'm not sure why the main cast of the 5 middle-school kids was written so strangely when all the rest of the characters were believably their age; and acted in believable (though some times unexpected) ways. Overall it wasn't bad, and the setting is really cool. I really loved a lot of the story elements, the music was good, and the art was generally very well done.
