Review of ReLIFE
ReLIFE is a show that piqued my interest a little but I put off on watching it for a while, I finally decided to now and wow I am in total shock. Never in my life would I have expected this to be so deep and profound, so real and so well executed in every aspect. From the characters to the different dynamics and how realistic they all felt I was just totally in awe by the end, and not to mention the ending itself because god damn. Speaking more about the characters, if you watched this and weren't totally in love with Hishiro by theend did you even watch it properly because this character is one of my favourites in recent memory for sure my god she deserves the world and I hope she gets it in her fictional universe. But it's not just her, every character throughout this show adds so much to the plot, fits in so well with the overall group dynamic and adds real palpable tension thanks to how well all the drama and personalities are written. They're also balanced fantastically, you never feel like you get too much or too little of one character, and the mini arcs they go through are paced fantastically and they really never waste any time in this show without progressing at least something which is character-driven.
The realism and profound nature of this show really sucked me in, most other anime in this genre tend not to go as heavily and correctly in the life lesson and real world parallel direction but this series absolutely nailed that, each moment throughout the show we see our main character reflecting on his life, trying his best to aid the people around him and overcoming his trauma all of which comes from his interactions with the other characters and the ways in which they all come to each other's aid it's really beautiful.
I loved the soundtrack in this show too, most of the OST featured really great piano pieces and they also opted for a new ending theme every episode????? The amount of care that clearly went into this is crazy, I'd also like to mention the voice acting and the dialogue because man both of them were phenomenal, especially Kariu's VA's work because those scenes where she lashed out were so raw and so real and really got through to me when I was watching, dialogue-wise it all ties into how well these characters are written and how profound the moments they have together are because you really do sit there like "damn" after hearing some of these conversations.
Overall this was an absolute gem that I would have never expected to be this good, really no complaints whatsoever with this show I was simply impressed by the end and literally glued to my screen towards the end of the finale but also throughout some other scenes too, I theorised and thought about so many things throughout the runtime this was a wonderful experience I absolutely recommend this to anyone and everyone.
