I decided to watch this show on a whim after seeing a lot of people talking about it on Twitter, and I will admit that at first I didn't know what to make of it. Keep in mind, at the time of writing this review I haven't read the manga, so my opinion is on the anime only. For starters, for a bit there I felt like the pacing was all over the place. A few things were resolved quickly, while others were slower. And, to be honest, I think half of the issues on this show could've been resolved a lot quicker if someone would'vehad a gun. Sans the last episode, I hate he did have a gun then.

Also, this show will go great lengths to make you forget the characters are (mostly) kids. Like, Takemichi is 14!! I'm not forgetting these are just high schoolers on steroids!! But you can try!!

Emotions wise, I liked how they dealt with the situations. Takemichi in particular was really well in that regard, especially when we see the lasting effects of all he went through at the beginning. I liked how, even after all the things he does right, he still felt like a failure, because it goes to show how PTSD will fuck up your perception of things. He still felt like the scared, defenseless child he was at first, and I thought that was very realistic.

The show also manages to make you emotionally invested in the characters, which is a plus. The characters are engaging and entertaining, and I really liked them.

As for design/art, it wasn't out of this world, but it was still good. There were moments during fights where the audio was surprisingly realistic, too.

Overall, I gave this an 8/10 because I liked it, it was entertaining, engaging, fun, and the cliffhanger was definitely cool! My only complaints were, as I mentioned above, the lack of guns and common sense. Seriously, why did no one ever think of calling the police?
