This is a spin-off of sorts from the original Super Danganronpa 2, as it is told from Nagito Komaeda's perspective. Honestly, I quite enjoyed it because I find Nagito to be a fascinating character but I'm not looking forward to rereading the same story again in the original, considering this one gets cut short for spoiler reasons. While the other story is told from Hajime Hinata's perspective, I'll have to read the same trials, same investigations, and see the same deaths/executions. So basically, I'm going to end up buying the same 2 volumes of manga twice with little change. That is really frustrating. But thoseare most of my complaints. What did I enjoy?
I love the art. It is really stylized and dynamic, which is a definite upgrade from the first manga series, which tried too hard to emulate the game and ended in extremely stiff movements. I also like seeing more of Nagito's experiences so I can understand his character more, and some of the images of his past were quite haunting. Also, the art of his face when he goes bonkers is amazing, so I loved this series purely for the art. I also think it portrayed the killing game quite well, despite what I've said. I enjoyed this series a lot, and I wanted it to continue, but there's literally no way it could have. Read it to see what I mean or look it up.
Read this if you want a rehash of the second killing game but in Nagito's point of view. Skip it and read the first series if you don't care.
