So, as of this writing, I've officially finished reading the 2nd part of Ascendance of a Bookworm. MAL hasn't updated yet since each volume has an extra 0.5 chapter, so while it's hard to say an exact chapter count, there are 13 volumes. Naturally, since this is only part 2 of a 5 part manga adaptation of a light novel, it's strongly advised that you read part 1 first. With that out of the way, there isn't much else to say as far as reviews since my feelings in part 2 largely reflect part 1. Myne is a rare character type in reincarnation isekai, being afemale protagonist that is NOT in fact an otome villainess. Her passion for books led to her rebirth in another world as a sickly commoner. The root cause of her sickness and drive to continue reading books would further entangle her in the machinations of shady business rivals and upper nobles trying to maintain the status quo. Myne's connections continue to grow, and with them, her understanding of the world and how it works (for better or worse). Her overzealous love for books provides great comedy between the drama and intrigue. With the understanding that you read or watched part 1, just know that Myne is not some warrior of light protagonist trekking across the world to slay a demon lord. Now that her vast magic capacity has caught the eye of the church, she will be expected to make contributions as is expected of nobles with magic. At the very least, we get to leave the city limits were she grew up and get to see the knight order in action. Though apart from some lite skirmishes, usually fueled by some amount of prejudice against commoners, they resolve relatively quickly. Part 2 is mostly about shedding more light on corruption, abuses of power, and Myne recognizing that in order to fulfill her dream of making books, she may need to put more than her own life at risk. While Myne was never a selfish person when it came to books to the point of sacrificing others' happiness for her own desires, her need for influential power will subsequently beholden her to take responsibilities for others less fortunate. Needless to say, she has a long road before she can enjoy reading books at her leisure.
The artwork is as beautifully expressive as part 1. If I hadn't watched ahead when the anime overtook the manga years ago, I'd have shed a few tears by the closing chapters. Multiple times I felt myself chewing my lip in frustration over Myne's seemingly unending struggles, but not because it was badly written. Quite the opposite. I'm as invested in the story now as I ever was. However, as with all multi-part stories, it's hard to truly review a story that isn't complete. If you enjoy the first part and want more, well boy do you get it here.

tldr; Reading part 1 is mandatory. Art remains the same as part 1 and is just as good. The manga covers slightly more material than the anime but both are still excellent viewing. No ecchi, no otome villainess, very original. Even some educational bits like how to make ink, paper, and stencils.
