I watched Milky☆Highway because it's the prequel of a Summer 2025 Seasonal anime, Milky☆Subway: The Galactic Limited Express. Even with this prequel, the series seems promising. Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way. It's CGI and I don't want anime to move to CGI. I take this as an exception for a few reasons. Firstly, it was made when the director, Kameyama Youhei, was still a film student. It was a 'graduation project,' meaning it's the capstone project that incorporates everything he learned in film school. Secondly, it's well made. The background art are detailed. Its use of lighting makes it vibrant. I won'tmind watching CGI anime if it's this well made.

Thirdly, its highlight is the song used as they try to escape from traffic officers.

The technical side is good, but the story is just passable. In this 3 minutes and 40 second short anime, it's about how Kurusu Makina and Kujou Chiharu go crazy in driving over the speed limit. Of course, this short is more on the exhiliration rather than character development.
