Journal With Witch is a coming of age story, which really does the genre well, it really emphasizes on the outlook that people can never truly understand others, and that's absolutely fine! The manga starts with a tone of melancholy but the message and experience offered like most coming of age stories is of experience and growth. People still can empathize to the best of their ability and that's what Asa's and her aunt's relationship is. It's a scenario that placed two people who have completely different outlook on things, some of it could be attributed to the age difference but others are just thedifferences in people, but Asa and her aunt work through their own problems and joys in their owns ways while still being part of a household living together.

At first the introduction of various side characters felt rather forced to me but as the plot progressed it seemed that a lot of their interactions and lore meant to further show how life really is different for everyone and yet how beautiful it can be when you acknowledge and find the joys in it, and rather than trying to arrange relationships and interactions into boxes that fit with your own views, its better to just be present with them.

Besides the great story, the art really is done well, some of the author's previous works felt sort of rough and without much interesting features present but here while being simple really does a good job on keeping the cast of characters with their own individuality present through the art and writing, the colour pages are absolutely gorgeous and having them present every volume was really pleasing to the eyes. Highly recommend this series.
