Spoiler warning

This review may discuss plot details.

Seeing the psychological and boys love tag, I was fairly intrigued as those two themes when combined have produced some of the best mangas out there. I had high expectations reading the synopsis but I was almost immediately disappointed. To start, there is absolutely nothing psychological or suspense or boys love in the plot line. It is a very standard cookie cutter plot of the reclusive glasses wearing character who everyone avoids secretly being a psychopath and the lousy delinquent befriends him to satiate his own ego. There is literally zero substance and the actions of the characters don’t have any motivations nor make anysense. It is like the mangaka read one chapter of the classroom of the elite and decided to make the most edgy character suffering from eighth grade syndrome. It is supposed to be psychological but I have zero idea about the character’s thoughts and emotions, they feel so one dimensional I genuinely can’t even form an opinion on them because they give nothing. Everything is so unrealistic like the MC is suddenly shunned and bullied just because he got rejected from a yakuza office, when has that ever happened realistically?

There is a suspense tag but the cover itself spoils what is going to happen later on so what is the point? It did start out interesting for around 5 pages then it was so easy to predict where the story was heading. I kept waiting for a big reveal but no it was just the fact that glasses guy knows how to fight and has an obsession with the delinquent. It is never shown why the glasses guy even likes the delinquent in the first place. The entire plot can be summarised as “oh I am so evil and deranged but you’re my obsession hence you’ll stay with me forever” .

I will say though the art is the only redeeming quality, the characters and the panels are drawn beautifully but it means nothing if there isn’t substance.

Final thoughts: Don’t waste your time reading this, I felt more confused than anything when I finished. I saw this was in a best BL one shot stack so I read it 5 times to see if I was missing some hidden meaning but I couldn’t find any at all.
If it were a longer manga for at least 7-8 chapters, I would have given it a higher rating.
