FLCL: Shoegaze · review

Perhaps a 7/10 is too high, but this is the only one of the FLCL sequels that dares to broach the subject of puberty in a new and interesting way. I read this being about the trans experience, and gender performance and dysmorphia as a whole. It's in stark contrast to the original's cis male experience (which, I'd say, is a perfect anime) but it's a perspective worthy of the franchise rather than the femmification of the exact same thing attempted in the other iterations. The budget is not even close to the original here, but the vibes are a bit more in line. If you're looking forsomething out there and are okay with something weird, maybe give this one a go.
