I was caught off guard with the first episode due to not having seen Barakamon. I had to check to see if I needed to see that first to watch this, but it turns out it was not required. It seemed like a slow start - whether from not having an understanding of all characters at first or from the interesting delivery style of this anime. Definitely a change of pace from what I watch normally, and the ending was great. Overall it turned out to be quite enjoyable to watch in later episodes, and I'm glad I stuck through with it. 8/10
