Ah, Suite Pretty Cure. After rewatching it, I’d have to say this would be the season I probably enjoyed the most of the Pretty Cure franchise. Overall, not an amazing show, but a very enjoyable one. Obviously, Pretty Cure is made for kids so they can’t experiment much with how they make the seasons (They tried that with GoPrincess and parents in Japan didn’t like it). Though many people dislike this season, I just can’t bring myself to hate it. I find the cures to be unique compared to some other cures in the franchise. Though Ellen seems like a “copy” of Setsuna, she’s basicallya cat version. Hibiki is basically Nagisa, but compared to some of the newer main pinks she’s one of the most interesting. Kanade is pretty cool, I like her relationship with Hibiki a lot, but I wish she got more focus. Now Ako is probably the most interesting. She’s one of the youngest cures in the franchise and the first to do the trope. I like her attitude and she’s probably the smartest cure on the team. And Hummy, she’s just too cute. Not my favorite mascot, but she’s nice. I like how naive she is and everyone seems to be aware of it.
Now the villains, probably my favorite part of the show. They are just the definition of “so bad it’s good”. I can’t count how many times I found myself dying of laughter because of them. Mephisto is hilarious, but his relationship with Ako is pretty wholesome. Trio de Minor is just…..so dumb lol. Bassdrum and Baritone are fine, but Falsetto is what really got me cracking up. I am not lying, this guy LITERALLY BECOMES THE MAIN VILLAIN FOR A FEW EPISODES. After Mephisto reforms, I guess the writers needed to have some sort of threat before Noise came in? I guess they thought Trio de Minor was too incompetent, lol. Noise is well, interesting. He kind of comes out of nowhere but he has an interesting motive. I don’t know, I think he hates sound or something? Anyways, the villains of this season are hilarious incompetent.
The plot itself is ehhh. You should probably only watch this show if you want a good laugh. But if you genuinely care about writing in a show this one’s probably not for you. Heartcatch or Go!Pri is probably more your cup of tea.
This is my first MAL review so please bear with me, lol.
