Hikari no Machi · review
Asano is a brilliant genius. This is easily the most world building I have experienced in such a short piece of work. Every storyline ties together just enough and makes the town feel as dark and depressing as bright and joyful. The reading experience has you guessing what is going on as you learn, truly feeling for and trying to understand each character's unique situation and pondering about the existential questions asked throughout. These questions, though, sometimes corny and overdone, are asked here comfortably, self aware and with a touch of humor, allowing us to truly appreciate every aspect of this manga and what itsays about morality and happiness. Truly a special read and an engaging one, too.
