This is an old anime and I just finished watching it blindly just because I wanted to watch some old-ass mecha anime by Nagai Go. And which is a space opera as well, which is interest. Inspired in Mazinger Z in many ways but now in space. And that's nice, there's some worldbuilding and many interesting acclamations to be done to this show. During the 80s, I suppose it would be very intriguing to develop such shows and we can somehow see the evolution compared to Mazinger Z (which I watched some 20 episodes though). What really kills it I think that are the some ofthe episodic plots which are just repetitiive. Like, really. There are some golden gems of episodes but they are not the big part. I could say that the show really got some nice fights, effects and even plot-lines of interest from 12 onwards. After that, there are just some episodes that really makes the show tiring. In fact, even the ending falls short in many aspects as I think it is anticlimatic, but, somehow, okay I guess...
If you are interest on history of mecha and really hyped about space mecha and space opera you can enjoy it. I liked the art and some fights. Just don't expect too much.
That's why it is fine.
